The Binghamton Equestrian Team is a club sport. A twice weekly lesson plan is required for all members who wish to compete over fences, once a week for our flat riders. While competition is encouraged, it is not mandatory. Anyone in the club can take lessons, riding regularly can count for your PE credit. We are not affiliated with the current BU Horsemanship PE class, this class will not count as a team practice. We compete in 8 shows every year. We are judged in the Hunt Seat equitation division of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association. At shows, all competitors ride horses they have never ridden before. No warm-up is allowed. This tests a competitors ability to change his or her riding style to match that of the horse. Our members have a wide variety of experience. For our team to be competitive, we must have people who have little experience as well as those who have ridden their whole lives. If you would like to bring your horse to school, contact our coach Veda for details. If you have any questions about the team, please e-mail us!
